Delicate, elegant and smooth with wild flowery aroma and a subtle touch of savory umami
Marking the arrival of winter, Han Lu is an exquisite winter delicacy of 100% pure white tea. Named after one of the 24 Chinese seasons on the traditional calendar, Han Lu is an exquisite treat that warms the heart.
Tea trees in Han Lu season have to endure colder and longer nights, which leaves them with dark green leaves, an extraordinary delicate floral aroma, and sweet smooth liquor unlike any other tea. Our Han Lu offers a wintry freshness like the morning dews on flower petals after a long dark night.
Fu Ding and Zheng He in Fu Jian are both the world’s birthplaces of white teas. The most popular and prestigious styles are Silver Needle (all buds), Bai Mu Dan (one bud with one or two leaves), and Shou Mei (Han Lu is a wintry harvest version after Shou Mei).
White tea is well known for having the simplest production process and thus preserving its tealeaf’s most original state. It is also the richest in amino acids, making the sweetest of all tea kinds. It is considered the most exotic tea not just for its purity and its natural elegant floral aroma, but also for its collecting value similar to those of Pu Er.
Fu Ding, Fu Jian, China
Gai Wan or ceramic pot
Add 5gram/1 tbsp
85 C / 200 F
Add 8oz water and infuse for 2.5 min.
Repeat for another 3+ infusions and increase the steeping time by 30 seconds with each additional infusion
Gai Wan (Recommended for best infusions):
Rinse leaves and discard the first infusion
Add water and infuse for 5 seconds for 3 infusions
Repeat for another 5+ infusions and increase the steeping time by 10 seconds with each additional infusion
We strongly encourage experimenting with different quantities, steeping times and tea wares to find your most desired result. However, avoid over heated water, as it will over-extract the bitter compounds and astringency of the tea, whereas water that’s too cool might not fully extract the aroma and flavor.
