Full Description

Painstakingly produced by a tea scholar who owns a small organic tea farm in Canton province, this hand picked tea is a special patent artisanal black tea. Intriguingly, it is actually produced by cultivating Jin Xuan Oolong tea trees from Taiwan, and it is produced only when visits from the Green Tea Leafhopper are ensured, however it is made with a production method for black tea.

100% pure, it is made of young spring leaves mixed with buds. Similar to a Golden Yunnan black tea, with malty smooth mouth feel, it presents a much richer aromatic sweetness that mimics sweet potato and honey, mixed with mild dry fruit fragrance. It also makes a surprisingly fascinating cold infusion. However, adding milk or sugar like Assam or Darjeeling is not recommended since its liquor is much more delicate. This artisan crafted tea is not something that can be found on the mainstream Chinese market, but is, instead, a local rarity.

Brewing Instruction

Gai Wan or ceramic pot
Add 5gram/1 tbsp
95 C / 205 F

Ceramic Teapot:

  • Add 8oz water and infuse for 3 min.
  • Repeat for another 3+ infusions and increase the steeping time by 30 seconds with each additional infusion 

Gai Wan (Recommended for best infusions):

  • Add water and infuse for 5 seconds
  • Repeat for another 5+ infusions and increase the steeping time by 5 seconds with each additional infusion 

We strongly encourage experimenting with different quantities, steeping times and tea wares to find your most desired result. However, avoid over heated water, as it will over-extract the bitter compounds and astringency of the tea, whereas water that’s too cool might not fully extract the aroma and flavor.
